History
Serving Long Island since 1963
Shellfish Marine Inc. began operations as a commercial oyster hatchery more than 60 years ago. In the 1960s, we became involved in the then burgeoning commercial bay clam industry. During these years, we were a substantial producer of bay clams.
In the 1980s, Shellfish Marine adapted to a changing economy. As the clam industry started to decline in Great South Bay, we shifted our focus to ship repair and demolition. In 1987, we installed an 80-ton travel lift, allowing us to service large, commercial vessels. Since that time, we have built a reputation for high-quality maritime repair services.
Since its inception, Shellfish Marine has been a family-run and -operated business. Today, Robert and Charles Hart continue their family’s legacy of serving the maritime community.
